Bruce as released 3 video a week ago about his line of product for Canon 5DMrkII camera handle: the U-Boat Commander. Watch his video as he keep adding more pieces to the handle system. This is somewhat an alternative to the Zacuto systems that we have presented previously. I havent tried any of these two, but I think I would prefer the form factory of the U-Boat. Its compact size makes it better for the kind of work I like to do.
Video Recap:
- Video 1: basic system: just an handle on each side
- Video 2: add top plate, lower handles, top handle, shoulder handle
- Video 3: demonstration of the various uses and possibilities of the system and add shotgun microphone.
Available in 3 kits starting at 198$.

How is the shoulder mount of any use if there’s no weight at the back to balance the camera?
You push or pull the mount against your own body to create resistance. It would be probably a bit less stable than the Zacuto system, but it takes much less room and weight which is important for some people (aka me!).
I am going to ask a machinist friend to work on a ghetto version of this for me and I will see how well it goes.
