Hi Pau. I agree with you, it is very well built and ultra sharp but bulkier, heavier and more expensive than the 50mm1.4 Canon. That is why it is not on the list. It is not really an alternative and more of an upgrade ;-)

I will check fo the 28-80. But for the 50f1,8, it cant be used because the lens does not have a real focus ring. Well, it could be used but it wont be practical. If you are interested in a 50mm lens only for video, check this post: http://www.canon5dtips.com/2010/01/50mm-duel-zeiss-50mm-1-7-planar-t-vs-canon-50mm-1-4/ The Zeiss could be a good alternative.

Anybody know how the Tamron AF 28-80mm f/3.5-5.6 lens works with the 5D mark II - is it any good? couldn't find any test footage. How about the Canon 50mm f/1.8? Thanks!

+1 for the Tokina 11-16. It's 2.8 throughout, pretty heavily built, and super duper wide.

Only fixe lenses offer best results and proper light.

12-24 is beautiful lens, if you can find good copy. unfortunately, yield of good ones is pretty low
