Sorry for missing this one! Actually, I did not miss it, I was just too busy working on a very special project (more on this tomorrow).
As you have all read elsewhere, rumors are that the next 5DMrkII firmware will include (as we expected/hoped) more than just the 24p frame rate. It would include 60p and 50p.
The thing is, the screenshot that was posted everywhere was not from the 5DMrkII but from the 1DMrkIV. So basically, nothing is set in stone yet and Canon could ditch the added feature at the last moment.
On my part, I am hoping (of course) for higher framerate but also for advance features like those we can find in the Magic Lantern firmware. Please Canon, give us serious video functions or at least full HD video out form the HDMI plug!
absolutely.. ive trawled the web trying to find bits of information or at least more comments from tim smith, the canon rep in the video. but have found nothing, i REALLY want the 60p. i have also heard from various people on forums that the dual digic in the 7d is more for the burst rate as opposed to the 60p function. if anyone can confirm any stats regarding this that would be great… i wonder if magic lantern could do it? i guess if its possible, canon would do it… why not, its a much more expensive camera, more $$ for them!
Actually, unless I am mistaken, 30fps@1080p requires more bandwidth than 60fps@720p. So yes, the 5D could handle 60@720p which is the reason I complained about this for so long
i hope your right! so hyped about this thing!
it worries me that the uk canon site has announced that they are “working on” an update and they only state the 24, 25p aspect. no mention of 60p, then again, it was in october and i guess they dont have to mention EVERYTHING that they are working on.
great site btw.
