Amazon CF UDMA card deals

In case you are in needs of more memory card (who is not!), Amazon is selling some fast & big CF cards today in their ‘End of Year deal’ section.

The best deals are with the Lexar Pro UDMA 16 GB 300x CF card or the Sandisk 8GB Extreme CF UDMA.

Just a quick reminder: HDSLR dont need super fast card to record video, any recent CF card will be fast enough. The added speed is only useful to save time when transferring the data from the card to the computer. Even then, you will need a fast card reader such as the LexarCF FireWire 800 Reader or the Sandisk Extreme FireWire Reader to benefit from the added bandwidth.

Amazon also has a nice rebate on the Pelican 1520 Case. I have two of these and love them.

Do you know if buying this 8Go Sandisk Card on Amazon (from the USA to Canada) is subject to import taxes or customs duties?

My answer would be: do you really believe the federal gov. would miss an opportunity to take money out of your pocket? ;-)

Seriously, unless you use FedEx Express or UPS Priority mail, I think you always have to pay the taxes + custom fees.

Well I checked the website, maybe they changed their prices but $275 for the 16gb 300x lexar seems pretty steep to me. Here I am looking for a good deal on CF cards to replace this crappy Trendsend 32x 133x I bought from newegg.ca early January. 2 cards! 8 gig and 32gig, beware of image corruption for one out of 8 or so shots.

Sorry Kyle, this was a one day deal I think. The special price was much much lower ;-)

I am currently using a stack (5) of 8gig Transcend 133x cards without any issues.

Really? hmm…. my classmate mentioned he had a similar problem and suggested blowing air into the memory slot, I tried it but to no avail I have the same problem. I’m the tech savvy type so I’ve tried everything with the card, I tried others and no problem.. I bought the 8gb from simons and the other on newegg *sigh*. It’s a great card though aside of the corrupt images. Love your blog btw, I check it every day like clockwork :) . Also it’s nice to see a fellow Montrealer making it big out there ^_^. Cheers mate!.
