I have been able to keep the site without sponsorship for almost a year now. It was kind of my pride, keeping a clean design and not looking like a sell out to visitors by plastering the right side of the site with ads.
Of all the 5D related sites, Canon5dTips has been the only one running without ads. I was having a conversation with one of my friend about this and he pointed out that I did use affiliated links pointing to Amazon. My answer was “Of course! I approve these products!” that is when I realized (a bit late!) that showing ads on a blog is not necessarily bad if you like the product. I already do this in half of my post when I talk about product X (or Z for that matter!), why not get some money at the same time?
This is how I ended up opening two new ads spot (for a total of 4) on the site at the top of the two right columns. These will be the only two ads you will ever see here. Because of some soon to be revealed news, I have to use 4 spots now. Trust me, products displayed in these spots will have my seal of approval and I will never put an ad for a product I would not use.
Right now, affiliate links are only used to point toward either Amazon or B&H PhotoVideo. Two excellent online stores.
Another way to support the site is to donate via Paypal using the following button. If you think my advices are worth something, I would gladly accept it.
Here is what we have to offer: Canon5DTips gets over 28,000 42,000 visits a month and generates over 59,000 86,000 page views. For a niche site dedicate at creating original content, that is quite good. If your product or services target the same market as ours, this is a golden opportunity for you to get a premium ad spot at a reasonable price.
Ads have to be 125×125, non animated and somehow fit within the sites’ colors palette. Links are ‘no-follow’ and run from the start of the month to the end. Contracts starting in the middle of the month are prorated. Payment done via Paypal. Price is 30$ per month. At less than 35 cents per 1,000 views, this is great exposure and since the traffic keeps growing, the average cost keeps going down! Hurry before it is too late.
